Honoring is 45th Anniversary in 2013, Joya de Nicaragua released the Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinço. The cigar was limited to 45,000 cigars, and was a Nicaraguan puro composed of tobacco entirely from the Jalapa Valley. The cigars were composed of filler tobacco that had been aging in oak barrels for over one year, and the cigars came finished in the box press manner. The response was very positive from the company, and due to two years of demand from consumers and retailers, Joya de Nicaragua is bring back the brand, but with a twist. This new release will be titled Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinço Reserva Especial, but unlike its limited predecessor, it will be regular production.

The new Reserva Especial will be based off of the original limited release, but there will be some changes here and there. Like mentioned earlier, the cigar will be regular production but it will only be rolled in small batches by the factory's best rollers. There will be a slight change to the blend, and it will be composed with a shade-grown Habano seed wrapper from Jalapa, Nicaragua, a Dominican Volado binder, and a modified filler blend of Grade A Nicaraguan filler tobacco that has been barrel-aged.

Along with a modified blend, the new Reserva Especial will come in four new vitolas. The company is not releasing the same vitola as it did in 2013, a 5" by 54 ring gauge toro, but instead is releasing a: Torpedo that measures 6" with a 52 ring gauge, a Toro that measures 6 1/4" with a 50 ring gauge, a Double Robusto that measures 5" with a 56 ring gauge, and a Petit Corona that measures 4 1/2" with a 46 ring gauge. Pricing will range from $12.50 to $8.00 respectively, and it will come in boxes of ten. The bands will be fairly similar to the 2013 release as well, but the gold coloring will be replaced with silver, and the Edicion Limitada will be replaced with Reserva Especial.

The initial batch will be made available to selected retailers this month, but the cigar will be showcased at the 2015 IPCPR as well.

My review of the initial Cuatro Cinço can be found here.
