It has been two years since I reviewed this cigar, well almost two years, and it was a cigar that was resurrected in a limited nature for the 10th Anniversary of Tatuaje Cigars. It was originally released in 2009 to much success, and when it was gone the fans, which were many, cried out for more. When it was re-released in 2013, it has been some time since I smoked the original, but what I did remember was that I really enjoyed it when it was first released. I have always struggled with Connecticut Broadleaf, I feel that many people use it poorly, but I always thought the blends that Pete Johnson put to the market did the wrapper justice and really showed the greatness of Connecticut Broadleaf. When the cigars came back in 2013, I bought a lot of them, and I am glad they did, because two years later this cigar is a bomb!
Measuring 5.5" with a 50 ring gauge, it is a longer than normal robusto, and it features the Seleccion de Cazador band with a Reserva band also. It features a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper with Nicaraguan fillers, and the blend is a modified version of the Seleccion de Cazador blend. The cigar delivered incredible flavors of cocoa, soft spices, rich earth, and oak, and it had a creaminess and smoothness that has developed over two years of aging. The construction was simply fantastic from beginning to end, burning perfectly to the nub, and it delivered a nice charcoal ash that was firm on the end. I would classify the smoke as being medium, maybe medium-full in body and strength, and it is a cigar I would have at all times of the day. If you by some chance find these around, pick them up! They are smoking great and I think they will smoke great for some time. I prefer the Noella overall, but this was fantastic. While I originally gave this a 92 on the old scoring system, probably an 89 now, it is a 92 now with my new scoring system.
